What is walk and talk therapy?

Instead of meeting clients in the therapy room, I meet the client in nature. As the name suggests we simply walk and talk, walking side by side, it is much less intimidating and helps the client feel at ease instantly. We walk in a public park on a well planned route. We will meet up online first to make sure we are both suited to each other.

Sometimes it is hard to talk to family and friends and you just need that one person who holds space for you to be heard and understood with no judgments.

Moving in nature , connecting and healing this is a very powerful process. Then we walk we are in the flow and relaxed enough to talk, being in nature has a positive effect on your mental health, paring that with talking is a very positive experience it also enhances your physical well being too.

So it’s a win win win situation. 

Where are you doing your WALK & TALK therapy?

We arrange a safe place to meet, generally in and around the Norfolk coast, there are plenty of convenient beautiful places to walk. You can choose your location from what is on offer. I will talk to you about this on your initial consultation (online). This will happen before the walk to ensure this is the right treatment for you and I am the right person for you to work with. 

The session takes place in all weather conditions unless there are issues then they can be arranged indoors. You lead the pace, walking side by side is much less intimidating than the therapy room. It can be combined with email, telephone and online communication.

How do you negotiate other people when walking?

Whether in a park or at the beach there are many people that  are walking and talking is a very common sight. A client and therapist will not look any different. If you want to go to a quieter place where there is less people around I can always arrange that too, I know of very many beautiful locations to walk where not many tourists go.

Is walk and talk therapy right for me?

This is an opportunity to reduce stress, relieve body tension, improve circulation, and over all wellbeing. These sessions can help you decrease anxiety, regulate mood, enjoy more restful sleep and more. Additionally you receive all the benefits of exercise, mindfulness and fresh air.

Walking and talking therapies are ideal for you if you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious or out of sorts. You maybe just feeling low, or constantly worried about your health or the health of others.
